Imagine the serenity of sitting on the porch holding hands or going for a short walk through the calm, picturesque village.
If you crave a faster paced atmosphere, Madison is just a short 15 minute drive along scenic route 62. Madison is known nationally for it unique architecture and commitment to preserving and restoring its beautiful downtown area. In July, the river comes to life with the annual hydroplane boat races, followed by the beautiful colors of autumn and the annual Canaan festival attracting over 10,000 people during the 3 day event.
Your hosts at the Rose Cottage Bed and Breakfast are Norma and Fred Tuttle. Mrs. Tuttle is a retired school teacher from Canaan Elementary and provides a full breakfast or some of her famous “made from scratch” muffins and sweet breads.
Mr. Tuttle is an accomplished woodworker and cabinetmaker. He not only built the cottage, but he carefully crafted all of the furniture, woodwork and doors in the cottage.
The cottage has a large bedroom with a queen-sized bed, dish television, and a small sofa. There is a small table with two chairs for guests to sit and have coffee or snacks. The bedroom also has a corner Jacuzzi tub in a beautifully appointed alcove. There is a full separate bath with a shower. The garden room has a smaller television, a microwave, a small refrigerator and a coffee maker.
